INFORMATION FOR INTERNATIONAL APPLICANTS (NON EUROPEAN APPLICANTS)
London School of Theology has achieved Highly Trusted Status with the UK Border Agency and is a Tier 4 Sponsor of the Points Based System.
The UK Border Agency requires that all international students have a proven record in studies. The cost of living is high and the Agency requirements are that tuition fees and basic living costs totalling approximately £12,000 have to be met before international students can be given entry to the UK.
Any visa application requires proof that these funds are in your bank account for at least a month before applying for a visa. Married students who bring their families would obviously need more funds than this.
A student can receive official financial sponsorship. An 'official financial sponsor' is an organisation that wholly supports a student to study in the UK by giving them money to cover their course fees and their living costs. The UK government, the student’s home government, the British Council or any international organisation, international company, university or UK independent school can be an official financial sponsor.
For further details on the process of how international students come to the UK, please see the UK Border Agency website at:http://www.ukba.homeoffice.gov.uk/visas-immigration/studying
International students also need to show that their English is of a high enough standard for them to study here. The Border Agency will only accept the following countries as majority English-speaking countries:
Antigua and Barbuda, Australia, the Bahamas, Barbados, Belize, Canada, Dominica, Grenada, Guyana, Jamaica, New Zealand, St Kitts and Nevis, St Lucia, St Vincent and the Grenadines, Trinidad and Tobago, the UK and the USA.
If you do not come from one of these countries but have a validated degree from one of these countries, which was taught in English, this meets UK Border Agency requirements.
All other international students need to prove their level of English – it is necessary to take the International English Language Testing Service (IELTS) examination (or equivalent) and gain a score of 6.5 (or equivalent) on each element: Reading, Writing, Listening, Speaking
A member of the teaching staff will interview international students using SKYPE and you need to ensure that you have access to this facility for the purpose.
London School of Theology will only provide a Confirmation of Acceptance (CAS) number to any international applicant who having been offered a place, has confirmed in writing that they have accepted their place to study at the School. You also need to prove to the School that you can meet UK Border Agency requirements in terms of finances and English before a CAS number will be issued. This CAS number is required for a visa application.
Please note that a CAS number is only valid for 6 months and it can take 2-3 months for a visa to be processed by the authorities and so early application is advised.
The application fee for International Applicants is £80 (non refundable).
The deadline for International Applicants is the 15 June 2013.
