INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS

LST is an International community currently representing 22 nationalities. Approximately 47% of LST students come from outside the UK.

All students need to provide evidence of their ability to undertake a course at LST with their application. This might be a degree, diploma or one year certificate and the relevant transcripts that would accompany an academic qualification taken at any educational facility.  Any applicant with A levels, GCSEs or their equivalent should also provide evidence of subjects taken and grades given in the form of an examination result document or transcript.

Interviews are now carried out with LST staff through Skype. Skype is a service you can download free from the Internet that provides free calls, free video calls and free instant messaging. Visit www.skype.com to download the software.

It is vital for the application process that you have an email address.

All applicants pay a £30 application fee. International applicants need to pay a £40 application fee. This extra £10 is required to cover the cost of LST acquiring a CAS (Confirmation of Acceptance of Studies) Number from the UK Border Agency. International applicants, that have been accepted to study at LST, will require this number to apply for a visa to study in the UK.

If you are planning to study full-time, you are able to work in the UK during holidays without requiring a work permit. There is a limit of 20 hours work per week during term-time and full-time hours during holidays under the terms of your entry visa.

Students bringing a family with them will need to make arrangements for accommodation, education and other practicalities.

Language requirements

If English isn’t your first language you are required to produce an IELTS test report with a minimum score of 6.5 overall (each individual element needs to score 6.5) or an equivalent English language proficiency report if applying for an undergraduate course. The requirement for postgraduate students is a minimum score of 7.0 (each individual element needs to score 6.5 or higher). There are many test centres and the easiest way to locate your nearest office is through an Internet search.

For European students, credits for all three years of our undergraduate courses are transferable and each is equivalent to a year’s study in any EU country.
