Whatever level of study, whether undergraduate or postgraduate, whatever form of study, whether attending LST or by distance learning, there are course modules available focused on Islam and Christian-Muslim Relations.
In the first year, there is a certificate option Religions which addresses the phenomenology of religion, then surveys major religions other than Christianity found in the UK: Islam, Hinduism, Sikhism, Buddhism and Judaism.
The second year diploma option Islam Survey explores the main elements of Islamic Scripture, belief and practice and considers historical and theological interaction between Christians and Muslims.
In the third year, the degree option Islam in the Modern World cover many issues including the life of Muhammad, the Islamic Empire, the Crusades, European Colonial policies and Islam, Islam in contemporary Britain, Islamic fundamentalism and the role and place of women in Islam.
Supervision of projects on Islamic Studies and Christian-Muslim Relations is also available in the third year.
The MA in Christian Muslim Relations offers the opportunity to be equipped with academic, theological, exegetical and practical tools for effective Christian Muslim relations.
Christian Engagement with Islam is offered as an option on the MA in Transformation: Scripture, Church and World.
The MTh - Master of Theology specialising in the Study of Islam includes the course Christian Engagement with Islam and a thesis of up to 35,000 words in an area of your choice.
Supervision is provided to students undertaking postgraduate research degrees, MTh, MPhil, PhD, in areas related to Islamic Studies and Christian-Muslim Relations.
Three courses are available in distance learning mode through the Open Learning Department: Religion and Religions (901), Islam (900) and Carey Course in Christian-Muslim Relations (910 & 911).
