THE HOLY SPIRIT AND SPIRITUAL GIFTS

Credits: 40

The objective of this module is to develop exegetical and critical theological skills and apply them to this important and spiritually rewarding topic. It is divided into two parts:

1. The pneumatology of the New Testament writers, and developments in pneumatology that underlie contemporary interpretation of the Spirit.

2. A critical exegetical analysis of selected charismata in the New Testament and in 20th century interpretation.

This module is broadly based, with intertestamental Judaism as a backcloth. It embraces a wide range of modern appraisals as well as traditional Evangelical and Pentecostal/Charismatic presentation.
