Alison was born and brought up in Hong Kong. She earned her PhD degree in Old Testament from the University of Gloucestershire (2002). Alison was Visiting Scholar at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem (2003-2004), undertaking her post-doctoral research on Medieval Jewish Perspective on Job 1-2. Before joining the faculty at LST, she taught at the Chinese University of Hong Kong (2004-2007).
