Chris initially trained at the Royal Academy of Music, specialising in harmony and composition, and playing the violin, viola and piano. A multi-instrumentalist, he also holds an MA in Music Education from London University Institute of Education, where he was awarded a distinction for his work on musical composition as an embodiment of life-feeling and the American philosopher S.K. Langer.
Chris is also "Musician-in-Residence" at the John Lyon School Harrow, where he teaches the piano, directs a variety of ensembles, teaches class music throughout the school and composes. He has also worked as a freelance musician/teacher for 18 years, and is a jazz enthusiast – performing and teaching jazz piano, guitar and improvisation.
Chris has been a visiting tutor for the Theology, Music and Worship course since 1997 and this year will be teaching modules on the arts and worship and understanding music. Chris, his wife Liz and their five children are actively involved at their church, Stanmore Baptist.
