How can I apply?
Research programmes start in October and January each year.
MA courses start in September and you should apply at least four months in advance (i.e. by May). Late applications are accepted, but your entry may be delayed, particularly if you are applying from overseas.
If you would find it helpful, we may be able to arrange an informal interview. This gives you a chance to talk with a member of staff, see the campus, and discuss financing, and it may help you to decide whether or not to apply.
You should complete the relevant application and medical forms. There are separate forms for the MA and research programmes so please make sure you have the correct form. All applications should be addressed to the Postgraduate Registrar, London School of Theology, Green Lane, Northwood HA6 2UW.
(MA only) Eligible applicants will normally be interviewed by a panel of tutors or a potential supervisor.
Do join us for Open Day, held this year on Saturday 14 November 2009, if you can. It will give you a fuller picture of what life at LST is like.
How much will it cost?

As well as tuition fees and living expenses, there are some smaller costs that you need to be aware of, such as photocopying, examination fees, and thesis binding. You will also need a computer to write up your thesis.
The Directory of Grant Making Trusts is a useful resource in finding possible sources of support. However, there are very few grants and scholarships available, and there is stiff competition for these. Many MA students have taken a Career Development Loan or have been supported by family, friends, churches and personal savings.
How do I apply from overseas?
Overseas students should note that non-UK/EU passport-holders are only admitted to the UK for full-time research – though, in certain circumstances and by agreement of the School, they may be able to undertake part-time research (or periods of full-time research) while living outside the United Kingdom. You should know that if you are not from one of the countries in the European Union you won’t normally be allowed to take paid work in the UK.
If you are married you may find it better not to bring your family to the UK until you have found somewhere for you all to live. Separation may put a lot of stress on the whole family and you should consider this very carefully before making a final decision.
If English is not your first language you will be required to produce an IELTS test report with a minimum overall score of 7.0 (all individual elements should be 6.5 or higher), or an equivalent English language proficiency report, i.e. TOEFL 600. There are many test centres, including most British Council offices, and the easiest way to source the nearest one to you is to do an internet search. Your proficiency in English will also be considered during your interview. Also, we will only be able to accept you when you can guarantee to meet the costs of your studies.
American Partners
A number of students at Asbury Theological Seminary (Kentucky), Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary (Boston) and Bethel Seminary (Minneapolis) in the USA are registered for PhDs in collaboration with LST.
Who validates the degrees?
