Full Time students at Level 1 will study a total of 120 compulsory credits during the 2010 - 2011 academic year. Part-time students will normally take the 'TH' modules in their first part-time year (timetabled Monday and Tuesday), and the 'TC' modules in their second (timetabled Wednesday afternoons).

| Introduction to Christian Doctrine
A survey of Christian doctrine, covering at an introductory level, topics such as Creation, Sin & Evil, Redemption etc, and also provide a basic account of Christian beliefs, pointing to the interconnections between different doctrines. |

| Personal, Spiritual and Skills Formation 1
Comprises 2 elements: supervised practical placement learning and personal/spiritual awareness and development through tutorial group learning, classroom teaching and personal reflection. |

| Bible and World
Uses biblical literature to explore several themes such a God and the word, revelation, humanity and sin etc; and to engage with issues posed by the contemporary world and culture, such as suffering, wealth and poverty, family and technology. |

| Integrating Theology and Counselling
Picks up issues from either half of the course and introduces students to some integrative methods, to hermeneutics and to some topics of particularly significant integrative potential. |

| The Counselling Model in Context
Provides a comprehensive study of the 'Waverley' counselling model, as developed by CWR. This is then shown in a contemporary and developmental context by comparing it to other models eg. Christian, non-Christian and non-western contexts. |

| Counselling Skills and Practice
Gives students the opportunity to apply their theoretical understanding of the 5 areas of functioning to a series of commonly encountered problems in counselling situations. Skills are introduced via a series of practical lectures. |

| Personal and Professional Development 1
Module focuses on developing both personal awareness and good professional practice. Personal awareness is fostered within a group setting, including a variety of practical/creative tasks led by a facilitator, while professional practice is developed via lectures on administrative, legal and best practice issues. |
