FLEXIBLE STUDY OPTIONS

You can complete the programme to Certificate, Diploma or Degree level. Each level is complete in itself, but also provides the foundation for the next. You may decide, after originally signing up for one year, that you would like to stay on and do more.

Ideally, the programme should be studied full-time to encourage integration between the theology and counselling halves. However, it is also available part-time. This gives you the option of continuing work or other commitments while studying. In addition, in some circumstances, some of the theology modules may be done by distance learning.

Full-Time Study timetable:

Full- time study takes a year for a Certificate, two years for a Diploma and three years for a Degree.  Each level is studied over three terms in which classes take place on 24 Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays (Certificate), and on 24 Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays (Diploma and Degree). During the Diploma and Degree years, you also need to devote time to seeing clients and receiving supervision, as well as to personal study. During the Certificate and Diploma years, the programme also includes three long residential weekends at Waverley Abbey House, the home of CWR.

Part-Time Study timetable:

If you need to take the course part-time, we normally recommend that you take two years over each level, and follow this timetable:

Certificate:

Year One – Theology modules on Mondays and Tuesdays

Year Two – Counselling modules on Wednesdays and three weekends

 Diploma:

Year Three – Counselling modules on Wednesdays and three weekends

Year Four – Theology modules on Thursdays and Fridays

Degree:

Year Five – Counselling modules on Thursdays and Fridays (usually)

Year Six – the core Theology module (usually on Wednesdays) and your Project
